Tewari demands CBI probe into IAY scandal

Youth arrested for rape

Moga : A 20-year-old was arrested for allegedly raping his neighbour in Bedi Nagar area here, police said today. Police arrested Ram Singh for alleged rape of the 16-year-old Dalit girl on October 18. Investigations revealed that the accused, after committing the crime, left his village and took shelter in Munawan village of the district.

Abusing Dalit by his caste in private interaction not an offence: Court

Abusing a Dalit by his caste in private interaction is not an offence, a Delhi court has said. The court's observation came while acquitting a principal of a government school of charges of passing some derogatory remarks against his junior, belonging to a Scheduled Caste. To drive home the guilt of the accused, such incidents should happen in full public view, it said.

Protest against the burning alive of two Dalits in Khaithapur village of Nalgonda district

Several Dalit and Human Rights organisations and individuals (led by Andhra Pradesh Ambedkar Yuvajana Sangham, Andhra Pradesh Scheduled Castes' Wefare Association and others)  held a protest demonstation against the burning alive of two men suspected of practising witchcraft in Khaithapur village, Nalgonda district, at the Babasaheb Ambedkar statue junction, near Tank Bund, in Hyderabad on 21st September, 2010.

Dalit Rights Group alleges atrocities by upper caste in Orissa

A 15-member fact finding team representing National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights, New Delhi and Dalit Adhikar Sangathan, Odisha on Monday alleged that Dalits of Ranapada village under Brahmagiri Block of Puri district are still facing untouchability, discrimination and atrocities by upper caste people.
